THE MYSTERY OF THE MISSING GNOMES.


Deep in the woods there are gnomes. Only a few humans can see the gnomes. Mostly children, but there are some adults that can see them too.
This story is about three gnomes. Grimble, Grumble and Gerald.
The three gnomes were sprightly little fellows, always getting into mischief and playing the fools.
They had lots of fun and were happy.
One day Grimble decide that he wanted more out of life than just messing about so one day he decided to travel beyond the boundaries of the woods. This audacious move made Grumble think about his life. He had always wanted to see the mystical cities that lay beyond the woods too. Gerald though was very comfortable where he was. He enjoyed the security of the woods. He was scared of the unknown.
Within a short time Grimble and Grumble had packed their bags and said their goodbye‘s. They tried to persuade Gerald to come with them but he was firm in his decision to stay.

Several years passed and Gerald was now not the sprightly fellow he once was. He was now a barber.
He had a nice house and lots of friends and he had enough toadstools to keep him and his wife comfortable for the rest of their days.
But every night when Gerald went to bed he thought about the other side of the wood. He thought about Grimble and Grumble and what they were seeing and experiencing. His heart sunk every night at this thought. He felt he was not leading his life according to his true will.
Gnomes will always need their hair cutting, his wife would say.
And he knew this, but he still felt empty.
One day Gerald went for a walk to the edge of the woods. He was very sad as he knew it was too late to travel, even if he wanted to. He was getting old now and he had responsibilities to his wife and community.
Suddenly Gerald started to feel strange. His arms and legs were becoming stiff. He couldn’t move. Then he started to lose his vision and hearing. Just before he lost total sight he saw a human looking at him from behind a tree.

Weeks passed and the village of gnomes had been looking everywhere for Gerald but had not found him.
Gerald was just one of many gnomes that had just vanished over the last few years. The villagers had put it down to a rouge fox.

One day, years later, Grimble and Grumble returned to the village. They were now old and wise and were respected highly among the community.
They had seen great sights and learnt much about the world. They encouraged the gnomes to explore for themselves and to follow their hearts, for they had seen beyond the woods what happens to gnomes who do not listen to their hearts. Gnomes all over were losing their magickal powers because so many gnomes were getting comfortable and not using their magick. The less they believe and use the powers the more it fades. Grimble and Grumble had seen the hundreds of gnomes on their travels that had become slaves to the humans. If a gnome ignores his magic, and his spirit departs, he turns to stone when a human looks at him.
They saw the motionless, soulless gnomes in the gardens of humans.
They had become ornaments.

All the villagers would seek council from Grimble and Grumble from this point on. Each week the gnomes would gather and listen to the wisdom of the explorers.
After a while more and more gnomes started to follow their hearts. Some would be artists and others writers. Some learnt about the outside world and others explored the inner worlds. Magickal powers were now flowing strong and things were being achieved in the community that had been long forgotten. The gnomes were getting wiser and more confident with their powers. And the humans had less gnomes in their gardens.
And they all lived happily ever after.

The Horse and Crab

There was a horse he travelled the land

The clouds shade me from the light
But only from my viewpoint
